The Role

The AI Product Owner is a key member of the M&G Life AI & Innovation team, responsible for maximising the value delivered by an assigned squad or pod. Working closely with the AI Product Manager, the Product Owner owns and prioritises the squad/pod backlog. You will bridge business needs and technical capabilities, identifying opportunities for AI-driven innovation, translating requirements into actionable work, and ensuring measurable business value. This role sits within a multi-disciplinary team and supports our ambitious growth strategy, digital transformation, and commitment to customer-centric AI solutions acting as the voice of the customer and business within a squad/pod.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, prioritise, and refine the squad/pod backlog, ensuring alignment with the overall product vision and business objectives set by the Product Manager.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Support model development cycles by refining requirements, defining acceptance criteria for AI behaviour, and validating outputs.
  • Validate and prioritise AI use cases, ensuring the squad/pod focuses on initiatives that deliver tangible business value.
  • Facilitate workshops, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other Agile ceremonies to drive effective delivery.
  • Visualise and optimise business processes as part of user story refinement, ensuring solutions fit operational needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the squad/pod, communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Champion adoption of new AI solutions, supporting change management, training, and transition activities within the squad/pod’s remit.
  • Define and track KPIs/OKRs for squad/pod deliverables, reporting on impact and value delivered.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and ethical standards in all squad/pod activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and learning within the squad/pod.
  • Contribute to best practices in product ownership and support the development of the Product Owner community.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
