Role Description
This full-time AI Research Scientist role is a hybrid position based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for partial work from home. The AI Research Scientist will design and conduct original research in machine learning and pattern recognition, including developing models, algorithms, and methodologies to solve complex real-world problems. Day-to-day responsibilities include formulating research hypotheses, implementing and evaluating models using large-scale datasets, and performing rigorous statistical analysis to validate results. The role involves publishing findings in top-tier conferences and journals, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external academic partners, and contributing to long-term research roadmaps. The AI Research Scientist will also help transition promising research into practical applications and prototypes aligned with MediaTek’s technology ecosystem.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science and Data Science, with the ability to design and implement efficient algorithms and data pipelines.
- Expertise in Pattern Recognition and applied Statistics for building, analyzing, and evaluating AI and machine learning models.
- Proven Research experience in AI or related fields, including formulating research problems, conducting experiments, and disseminating results.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI research (e.g., Python, C++, or similar) and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
- Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Track record of publications in reputable AI, ML, or data science venues (conferences or journals) and familiarity with peer-review standards.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary, international team, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with large-scale computing environments, cloud platforms, or distributed training, and interest in bridging academic research with industry applications.
