  • Location: Halifax, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds
  • Hours: Full-time
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid (at least two days/week (40%+) spent on-site)
  • End Date: 08 July 2026 (part of graduate programme, permanent roles available as role matures)

As the business grows its AI ambitions, MRO serves as the primary interface for risk stewardship. Collaborating with CCOR (Chief Customer Office Risk) teams, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping AI governance with impact across: 🔸 Data Risk 🔸 Cyber Security 🔸 Supplier Management 🔸 Conduct Risk

The Opportunity: Key Responsibilities

Supporting AI’s responsible progression:

  • AI Governance & Risk Oversight Assurance:

    • Execute risk reviews on emerging AI systems.
    • Assess risks and validate control effectiveness across AI lifecycle stages.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:

    • Monitor AI usage and identify governance gaps and critical issues early.
    • Report AI risk insights to internal stakeholders with clarity and impact.

  • Compliance & Alignment:
    • Track AI regulatory updates and deliver impact assessments.
    • Ensure alignment with model governance and technology risk frameworks.

Requirements

Foundational Qualifications & Experience:

✔ Model Risk, Compliance, or Technology Risk Understanding (particularly in AIspace).

✔ Awareness of AI/ML Generative AI (GenAI) Risks—spanning: 🔹 Data Risks (usage, leakage) 🔹 Model Output Risks (interpretability, fairness) 🔹 Monitoring Insights

✔ Ability to engage cross-functionally and translate technical risks across teams.

✔ Exposure to Risk or Governance Frameworks: particularly second-line functions.

✔ Familiarity with Global AI Regulations: EU AI Act, GDPR, etc.

(Strong Consideration will be Given) – Bonus Criteria:

🆚 Security Risk Know-how: Data leakage, adversarial threats.

🆚 AI Tooling & Monitoring Skills: Platform experience (Vertex AI, LLMOps) or model-tracing tools.

🆚 Ethical AI Exposure: Topics including fairness, explainability (APEX), and Intellectual Property risks.
