AI Risk Oversight Assistant Manager

About the Role
The newly established AI Risk Oversight team within the Model Risk Office (MRO) at Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join a dynamic and rapidly evolving AI governance and risk initiative.
This role is ideal for those passionate about influencing the future of AI governance in financial services, with a focus on risk management, compliance, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
As AI Risk Oversight Assistant Manager, you will play a critical role in:

Risk oversight and control assurance:
- Supporting oversight reviews of AI systems across stages of their lifecycle.
- Assessing risk identification, evaluating control effectiveness, and flagging governance gaps or issues.
- Monitoring AI system usage to mitigate risks and align with regulatory expectations.

Cross-functional collaboration:
- Engaging with CCOR teams (e.g., Data Risks, Cyber & Security, Supplier Management, Conduct) to enhance AI safety and governance frameworks.
- Aligning AI oversight with model governance and technology risk processes.

Risk documentation and stakeholder communication:
- Compiling AI risk assessments and documenting findings for internal stakeholders.
- Conducting updates on AI-related regulatory developments and performing associated impact assessments.

Future-proofing AI strategy:
- Reporting on technological, ethical, and governance risks faced by AI and GenAI models.
- Working with broader financial governance, control, and model risk teams to implement sustainable oversight.

What Knowledge and Experience Do You Have?

Desired experience:
- Work in model risk, AI governance, compliance, or technology risk, preferably within financial services (either front/back office, risk functions, or repetitive "steps versus governance").
- Understanding of AI/ML and generative AI (GenAI) risks, including:
- Data use challenges (e.g., bias, labelling issues)
- Model output reliability
- Integration risks in workflows
- Monitoring approaches (e.g., deterioration signals)
- Ability to translate technical risk findings to non-experts for cross-functional collaboration.

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £57,150–£63,500 (up to £85,725 with experience). All benefits conditional on location and relevant offers remain valid.
Core Offer:
