Job Title: AI Architect
Contract: 6 Months
Location: Flexible / Remote
Day Rate: £550 - £750 (Inside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced AI Architect to play a critical role within a large-scale digital and technology transformation programme. This is a unique opportunity to help shape and secure the adoption of AI, LLMs, and Agentic systems within a complex, enterprise environment.
You will operate at the intersection of architecture, security, and innovation, driving the safe and scalable use of advanced AI technologies while influencing strategic direction across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and evolve secure AI architecture roadmaps, ensuring alignment with broader technology and security strategies
- Lead the secure design, implementation, and governance of AI, LLM, and Agentic systems
- Develop and embed AI security standards, policies, and best practices across the organisation
- Conduct and maintain threat models and risk assessments for AI systems, informing key business decisions
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AI Security, supporting architecture boards, risk committees, and senior stakeholders
- Provide guidance on secure AI adoption, including threat mitigation, governance, and compliance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, security, and business teams to ensure secure, scalable delivery
- Evaluate and implement emerging AI security technologies to reduce enterprise risk

Required Experience
- Minimum 7+ years' experience in Security Architecture within large, complex organisations
- Proven expertise in securing AI / GenAI systems, including LLMs and Agentic architectures
- Strong knowledge of security domains: GRC, Application Security, Identity, Data, and Cloud
- Experience defining and implementing security standards, policies, and governance frameworks for AI
- Hands-on experience with threat modelling and risk analysis for AI systems
- Ability to operate effectively in architecture governance forums and stakeholder environments
- Strong understanding of secure design principles and risk management
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
- Familiarity with frameworks and standards such as ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, and relevant AI regulations (e.g. EU AI Act)
- Experience working in highly collaborative, global environments
- Background in engineering or hands-on technical delivery
- Exposure to cloud-based AI platforms and modern development practices (Agile, APIs, etc.)
