AI Security Consultant – Remote (Hybrid) – UK
Protecting AI systems from threat to trust: we’re hiring an AI Security Consultant to join our Cybersecurity practice in the UK under a hybrid working model.
As an AI Security Consultant, you’ll play a critical role in helping clients design, secure, and operationalise AI systems that meet trust and compliance requirements. Focusing on emerging risks in generative AI, agent-based workflows, and traditional ML pipelines, you’ll bridge cybersecurity with innovation to foster secure AI adoption across industries.
This hands-on, client-facing role blends technical expertise and strategic leadership. Your cross-disciplinary focus spans preventative security assessments, adversarial testing, regulatory guidance, and go-to-market support, enabling clients to leverage AI while mitigating risks.
## About the Role
The ideal candidate excels at translating cybersecurity challenges into practical AI safeguards while collaborating with global teams, clients, and stakeholders. Your work will shape EPAM’s growing capability in AI security—a critical area for the future of innovation.
## Responsibilities & Day-to-Day
Core Tasks
- Lead AI/ML security assessments, spanning model prototyping, LLM applications, and ML pipelines, aligned with OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS, and NIST AI RMF.
- Threat-model AI architectures to identify and articulate novel risks (e.g., prompt injection, hallucination-induced scenarios, chain-of-thought vulnerabilities).
- Advise clients on securing AI across the lifecycle—from data sourcing and labelling to deployment and real-time monitoring.
- Define and communicate security controls for:
- Attacks exploiting prompts/jailbreaks and data poisoning.
- Supply chain risks in model-dependent environments.
- Stealthy additions to AI workloads (e.g., backdoor implants in supervised fine-tuning).
- Translate complex requirements into actionable design principles, working with data scientists, engineers, and channels like O bedroom tooling/MLOps pipelines.
- Conduct adversarial/red-team hearings on AI applications (e.g., agentic systems) to expose blindspots and prove defences.
- Develop documentation and reference architectures tailored to client needs, so development teams can operationalise secure solutions.
- Function as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, clarifying risks that impact productisation, regulatory posture, and strategic AI roadmaps.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Collaborative Aspects
- Embed with EPAM’s Cybersecurity practice in the UK and Ireland, expanding its AI security offerings.
- Support pre-sales activities by leveraging AI security expertise (e.g., “if not solved here, risk Y down-hill” sales narratives).
- Work with EPAM’s LLM/large techniques teams to share AI security research (e.g., mapping MITRE categories to proprietary vulnerabilities).
## What We Look For
Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in cybersecurity, with a significant emphasis on enterprise consulting (e.g., briefings for target clients via account management and technical selling).
- Deep understanding of AI/ML paradigms, particularly:
- Generative AI models, foundation models, and their prompt/sourcing dynamics.
- RAG interfaces with enterprise data, maintainability challenges, and hallucination-vulnerability nexus (e.g., bait-and-switch).
- MLOps frameworks and model persistence principles.
- Proficiency in security frameworks for AI:
- OWASP LLM Top 10 and MITRE ATLAS (Argumentation Guide—impact-motivation-mechanism mapping).
- NIST AI Risk Management Framework (e.g., assessing trustworthiness thresholds).
- Nuanced insights into cloud security stacks (e.g., unpackingарheirows model servicing on GCP/Azure vs. AWS).
- Familiarity with evolving AI regulation, including:
- EU AI Act and LLMs under higher risk classifications.
- GDPR Bernat- and AI-nodes (e.g., classification-responsibly threshold).
- Jurisdictional outliers (e.g., GDPR and Brazilian regulatory pressures on nuanced model explainability).
- Pitching solutions both verbally and in writing for complex clients, with clarity across executive mentees and data science teams.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous requirements and fast-paced settings—bringing clarity to ethically and legally vital decisions.
