The Opportunity
We are looking for bright and enthusiastic AI/software engineers to join our R&D team in Cambridge as we continue the next chapter of product development on Neat Open, our solution to the world of hybrid collaboration technology. As an AI/software engineer, you will work on everything from research and design to testing and delivering AI-centric features across our entire product range.
You will be part of a small, dynamic team and happy to get stuck into a variety of engineering problems. You will be part of bleeding-edge product development, building AI-powered features, be they on Neat devices or in the cloud. Modalities for AI include all of audio, video, and text, resulting in a rich, challenging and novel environment.

This is a hybrid research-and-product role — you'll be expected to explore emerging AI capabilities and bring them into production, working closely with a tight-knit and supportive engineering team.
AI Research & Innovation
Proactively stay on top of the latest developments in AI agents, visual understanding, and acoustic/audio models — and discuss relevant findings with the engineering and leadership teams. Maintain a working understanding of transformer architectures and how they extend to multimodal (audio + visual) inputs Research and evaluate new AI technologies for meeting room applications, presenting clear pros/cons to engineering and leadership Use and experiment with cloud AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) to prototype and validate new ideas
Product Development
Deliver AI features end-to-end across our products, working closely with the software engineering team Monitor production AI features and develop evaluations to detect and prevent quality regressions across our products Develop and maintain high-quality software in Go, Kotlin, and TypeScript/React Collaborate with designers and product managers to build simple, intuitive experiences Design technical architectures jointly with the product and engineering team Participate in code review and help uphold a strong engineering culture

About You
You will have achieved excellent academic results from a leading university or be able to demonstrate outstanding technical skills and be proficient in English. You will be excited by working on a combination of AI topics and production software engineering. We don't expect you to be strong across every area — if you bring deep expertise in some and genuine curiosity in the rest, we're happy to invest in your growth.
We are looking for a team player who thinks holistically, enjoys solving complex problems and thrives working autonomously, while not afraid to ask for input and learn from your teammates if you’re stuck.
