**AI Tech Pre-sales Specialist – SDG UK
Location: London / Hybrid Base Salary & Benefits: £90k + Communications Bonus + Benefits

About the Role
This critical hybrid role sits at the intersection of sales and AI expertise, serving as a key technical bridging function between clients and SDG’s AI Architecture & Data Science teams.
As an AI Pre-Sales Technologist, your mission is to empower enterprise clients with the ability to understand, envision, and adopt AI-driven solutions aligned with their unique challenges—acting as their trusted technical advisor throughout the consultative selling process.
Core Responsibilities
✍ Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and nurture trusted relationships with potential clients, establishing technical confidence in SDG’s propositions.
- Serve as a technical advocate for AI/ML strategies during negotiations and close.
🧩 Solution Design & Feasibility
- Collaborate with AI Architects & Data Scientists to design innovative yet feasible technical solutions from a both algorithmic/machine learning and cloud scalability perspective.
- Provide expert guidance on AI architecture patterns and end-to-end solution implementation methodologies.
✨ Value Proposition & Positioning
- Shape SDG’s AI value narrative for the market (go-to-market strategies, positioning arguments) while educating clients on TCO, ROI, and business outcomes.
- Lead AI-oriented commercial proposals, aligning technology vision with client success.

💬 Collaborative Pre-Sales Execution
- Work closely with the sales team to advise, validate, and empower them to overcome objections, exemplarised by realistic technical roadmaps and partnership frameworks.
📚 Knowledge & Trend Leadership
- Monitor industry advancements (e.g. RAG, MLLM evolutions, fine-tuning LLMs) to ensure SDG remains at the forefront of AI capabilities.
- Propose innovation strategies triangulating emerging tech with SDG’s partnership ecosystem.
🚀 AI Roadmapping & Client Strategy
- Partner early-stage clients to align post-sales AI roadmaps across technical (MLOps, deployment, observability) and strategic (scaling impact) dimensions.
Required Qualifications
🔹 Client-Facing Expertise
- Proven ability to translate technical jargon into business goals, demonstrating success with complex stakeholder relationships (executives, cross-functional leaders).
- Familiarity with consultative sales processes (questioning, pitching, deal closure) and Deliver efficiencies in B2B AI advice-giving.
🔹 Pre-Sales & Technical Knowhow
- Hands-on pre-sales experience preferred (e.g., pre-sales engineer, solution engineer roles at tech providers or consultancies).
- Must exercise confident software + business insight in proposing optimized AI deployments.
🔹 Presentational & Communication
- Destined to excel in presenting technical content to non-technical audiences using concise demonstrations, comparisons, and frameworks.
- Strong collaborative skills—balancing a ferocity to challenge assumptions while handing tempering visions with market relevance.
🔹 Academic Foundation
- Undergraduate or higher degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related technologies.
🔹 Industry Experience
- Minimum 5 years in AI/ML, Data-Science, Software Engineering, or related fields—strengthening domain knowledge across:
- Machine learning: NLP, computer vision, generative AI, LLMs.
- Cloud-platform insights: Azure AI Foundry, AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex.

- Intermediary or advanced mastery of key AI/ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face.
- Penetrating knowledge of data ecosystems: Snowflake’s Data Cloud, Databricks Lakehouse platform.
- Conversant with MLOps practices: Modelling pipelines, model versioning, automated inference, observability.
