The Opportunity

TL Marchmont Partners is an independent investment and advisory firm, including a private equity fund at an inflection point. We are building our operating model from the ground up and AI agents are at the centre of that transformation.

As we design the firm’s future org structure, we are systematically mapping every role and every task across every department. Some of that work will still be done by people. Some of it will be delegated to intelligent AI agents. Your job is to actually build the agents.

What You’ll Do

Design & Build

  • Design AI agents to perform Low and Medium risk tasks autonomously.
  • Define agent inputs, outputs, guardrails, escalation triggers, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
  • Build and iterate on agents in TL Marchmont’s live environment using frontier AI tooling.

Test & Govern

  • Validate agent performance against real operational criteria.
  • Document agent behaviour, risk boundaries, and exception handling.
  • Contribute to our AI governance framework with the rules that keep High risk tasks firmly in human hands.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You’ll Learn

Most internships give you exposure while this one gives you depth. By the end, you will have hands-on experience that most professionals spend years trying to acquire:

  • How an investment and advisory firm actually operates from strategy, capital raising, deal flow, portfolio management, LP relations, compliance, and more.
  • How to design AI agents for enterprise use: architecture, prompt engineering, risk controls, and governance.
  • How to apply a risk classification framework to real operational tasks, a skill increasingly demanded by regulators and boards.
  • How to work alongside executives and contribute to firm-wide strategic decisions.
  • How to build AI systems that are production-ready and not just demos, but tools people in the firm actually rely on.
  • The legal and regulatory landscape around AI in financial services, guided by advisors from top-tier global law firms.

Who We’re Looking For

We care more about how you think rather than what you’ve studied. We are looking for people who are:

  • Intellectually curious and genuinely excited by the intersection of AI and financial services.
  • Structured thinkers and able to break complex problems into clear frameworks.
  • Builders who are comfortable using AI tools (Claude, GPT, Gemini, or similar) and willing to learn new ones fast.
  • Detail-oriented because in private equity, the detail is everything.
  • Discreet as you will work with confidential firm and portfolio data.

Additional Important Points

  • You must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree as this is an unpaid internship.
  • Prior exposure to AI tools, coding (Python, JavaScript), or process design is a plus.
  • Any experience in financial services, consulting, or a startup environment is preferred.
