About The Role
As a Senior Associate, Applied AI/ML Engineer within the Applied AI/ML team at J.P. Morgan, you will play a vital role in supporting the development, deployment, and operational management of artificial intelligence and machine learning models and agentic systems. Your expertise will enable clients to leverage AI/ML technologies in a secure, scalable, and efficient manner. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and clients to implement best practices in model deployment, observability, and lifecycle management. Your work will contribute to enhancing the firm’s capabilities in AI/ML, ensuring that solutions are reliable, compliant, and aligned with responsible AI principles.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in deploying AI/ML solutions within a client-facing environment. Strong software engineering skills, including proficiency in coding, testing, and implementing APIs or services, are essential. Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks such as Ray or Spark, along with experience in observability, evaluation, and experimentation platforms for AI/ML or large language models, is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills are necessary to translate complex technical requirements into practical engineering outcomes. A background in supporting AI/ML product lifecycle management, monitoring, incident response, and governance will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Assist clients in building and deploying models and agents across multiple frameworks, including selection, integration, troubleshooting, and adherence to best practices.
- Implement and manage AI/ML observability tools such as experimentation management, tracing, and monitoring systems to enhance model reliability and performance.
- Design, develop, and optimize large-scale data processing pipelines and feature workflows utilizing distributed compute platforms like Ray or Spark.
- Leverage coding assistants and automation tools to improve engineering efficiency while maintaining high standards of code quality and robustness.
- Ensure secure deployment practices and access controls for AI/ML services, aligning with firm policies on safe and responsible AI use.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation and runbooks to support ongoing supportability, operational excellence, and repeatable delivery processes.
