Air Conditioning Engineer | Greater London & South East | Full Time | Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (40 hours per week) | £40,000 - £48,000 per annum
Our client is a leading technical services provider specialising in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) building services. They offer a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance solutions, as well as expertise in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial buildings.
They are seeking an Air Conditioning Engineer, ideally with experience in service, repair and fault diagnosis, to join their dynamic team to deliver professional air conditioning services.
Please note: this position is subject to DBS clearance and proof of right to work in the UK.
The Role
As an Air Conditioning Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing air conditioning systems across commercial and industrial properties.
The role includes planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and small installation projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for varied, technically engaging work within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs in line with F-Gas regulations and industry standards
- Service and maintain a range of air conditioning systems, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Toshiba, Hitachi, and other major manufacturers
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently
- Complete service reports and maintain F-Gas records accurately
- Liaise with the Contracts Manager to plan service visits and minimise client disruption
- Maintain high standards of health & safety compliance
- Deliver excellent customer service and technical support
- Support small installation works where required
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as an Air Conditioning Engineer within building services
- Strong knowledge of refrigerant-based air conditioning systems, diagnostics, and fault finding
- Relevant Air Conditioning / Refrigeration qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
- F-Gas Category 1 certification
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Good communication skills and a professional client-facing manner

Desirable
- Experience working within commercial and industrial environments
- Manufacturer training/certifications
- Knowledge of recovery stations, vacuum pumps, refrigerant gauges, and correct F-Gas procedures
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices
- Experience with installation projects

Additional Earnings (Optional On-Call Rota)
- £140 standby payment per week
- 1.5x hourly rate for call-outs (door-to-door)
- 1.5x hourly rate for overtime
- 2x hourly rate for Sunday work
- Paid travel time for on-call call-outs and weekend work (door-to-door)
