Air Conditioning Engineer
Air Conditioning Engineer (Full Time – Remote, Midlands Coverage)
We are seeking a full-time Air Conditioning Engineer to join our growing team of service engineers, working across a broad range of our Midlands commercial clients. This is an inclusive fully remote role with the requirement of holding a valid UK driving licence.
About the Role
Thermatic Technical FM delivers nationwide Hard FM services, including air conditioning, refrigeration, and building environmental systems, to large commercial clients. As part of our team of mobile engineers, you will:
- Assist our account teams at Head Office to provide reactive breakdown and planned maintenance services
- Conduct on-site work as requested by clients for installation, commissioning, servicing, and repairs
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Install, commission, and maintain air conditioning & refrigeration systems, including VRVs, VRFs, split systems, and chillers
- Perform planned & reactive maintenance in accordance with Thermatic's PPM and Help Desk task schedules
- Complete timesheet submissions accurately within defined deadlines
- Carry out basic facility maintenance as required
- Support the 24-hour call-out rota, including out-of-hours and late-night shifts (1 week in 4)
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety obligations, including Asbestos Awareness
- Craft technical & situational reports for management
- Escalate major site issues or incidents immediately

Client & Team Support:
- Work collaboratively with the team, including acting as a second engineer if needed
- Maintain positive client relationships through professional on-site interactions
- Assist office-based teams with quotes by identifying additional works
- Contribute to training & upskilling junior service engineers
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
✔ Experience in servicing, repairing, and maintaining air conditioning & refrigeration equipment (VRVs, VRFs, splits, chillers) ✔ FGAS Certificate (Category 1) qualification ✔ NVQ Level 2 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Equipment ✔ Proficiency in Building Regulations (UK) ✔ In-depth knowledge of building environmental & electrical services (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) ✔ Strong Health & Safety awareness for maintenance tasks ✔ Basic plumbing & building material skills ✔ Asbestos Awareness certification
Desirable:
🔹 IPAF & PASMA qualifications for elevated access 🔹 Part P Electrical Certificate & Building Services qualifications

Working Arrangements
- Location: Fully mobile role covering the Midlands & surrounding areas
- Standard hours: 40-hour week (Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm) with additional flexibility for reactive work
- On-call roster: Mandatory 24-hour call-out duty (maximum 1 week in 4)
- Travel requirement: Must have a valid UK driver’s licence
