Due to the rapid expansion of our dedicated domestic and light commercial division, Black Country Air Conditioning, we are actively seeking professional, high-calibre, F-Gas certified subcontractors and installation teams across the West Midlands and South Staffordshire to support our incoming pipeline of installations, including high-end concealed ducted systems and multi-split domestic heat pumps.

Role Description
This is a contract, mobile role for an Air Conditioning Installer / Installation Team. The Air Conditioning Installer will install, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems and related mechanical components for both domestic residential properties and commercial/industrial clients, ensuring safe, neat, and fully compliant operation.
Day-to-Day Tasks:
- Interpreting technical site drawings, spatial reports, and manufacturer specifications.
- Planning installation work, selecting optimal pipework routes, and implementing external containment/trunking.
- Mounting, positioning, and securely connecting indoor units (including slimline cassettes and concealed ducted fan coils) and outdoor condenser units.
- Conducting comprehensive F-Gas commissioning, including strength testing, evacuation, vacuum hold tests, and final pressure logging.
- Diagnosing mechanical/refrigeration faults and completing maintenance or remedial services.
- Completing clear, accurate service reports, F-Gas logbooks, and commissioning documentation.
- Communicating professionally with residential homeowners, commercial clients, and the remote project management team.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certifications:
- Valid Category 1 F-Gas Certification (City & Guilds 2079 or BESA equivalent) is mandatory.
- Refcom or F-Gas registered business status is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Strong practical skills in the installation, commissioning, and fault-finding of residential splits, multi-splits, and light commercial ducted systems.

Documentation:
- Ability to read technical drawings and manufacturer guidelines, with a commitment to completing clear project documentation and accurate compliance records.
Standards:
- Exceptional workmanship with strict adherence to British standards, health and safety regulations, and tidy containment practices (e.g., color-matched external trunking).
Tools & Transport:
- Must possess your own reliable commercial vehicle, specialized F-Gas tools (vacuum pump, recovery rig, calibrated scales, dry nitrogen regulators), and valid Public Liability Insurance (minimum £2m or £5m preferred).
Electrical Understanding:
- Solid mechanical aptitude with a safe basic electrical understanding for connecting into pre-installed local rotary isolators.
Professionalism:
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to operate independently and safely with minimal on-site supervision.
Driving:
- Valid UK driving licence.
