Job Title: Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Service Engineer
Location: Manchester Status: Full-Time, Salaried Salary: Up to £21 per hour (dependent on experience)
About the Role
Airco are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Service Engineer with a proactive approach to ensure high-quality service delivery for our acclaimed client base. They work across numerous sectors, including pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, telecoms, education, healthcare, IT, retail, and local authorities.
This opportunity is ideal for a forward-thinking, responsible engineer looking to contribute to an innovative organisation.
Airco currently require an F-Gas/Airconditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join our growing engineering team in the Manchester area and surrounding regions. responsibilities will include responding to service demands, maintenance tasks, and installation support.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Serve as a mobile engineer, diagnosing faults and failures in equipment and systems while proposing effective solutions.
- Conduct routine planned and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and safety, adhering to best practices.
- Rotate shift participation in a 24-hour call-out roster as required.
- Support site surveys, reports, and provides quotes for new and existing clients.
- Actively take part in training, mentoring, and industry updates to stay aligned with standards.

Qualifications and Skills
Key Requirements
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, and must be F-Gas/EN 378 compliant.
- Proficient knowledge of refrigeration and electrical principles.
- Hands-on experience with:
- VRV systems
- Cold rooms
- Close control units
- Chilled water systems
- Chillers
- Experience in fault finding across systems such as data centre cooling and water chillers.
- Solid understanding of industry standards, legislation, and compliance requirements.
- Positive, proactive mindset with a focus on resolving issues efficiently.
- Excellent organisation, communication, and customer service protocols.
- Ability to work in a flexible capacity (even outside regular hours due to call-outs).
- Full driving licence.
- DBS clearance (disclosure).
