Security Risk Assurance Manager

Mitie / Airbus UK

National Role with travel to Airbus sites

Role Overview

At Airbus, we pioneer sustainable aerospace solutions to connect and protect people around the world. As a leader in aerospace, defence and space technologies, security and resilience are fundamental to our success.

We are seeking an experienced Security Risk Assurance lead to drive the development and delivery of a comprehensive security assurance, training and risk management programme across Airbus UK operations. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, strengthen security culture, and ensure that physical security measures, processes and personnel remain aligned to evolving threats, business requirements and industry best practice.

This is a strategic role responsible for developing intelligence-led security solutions, enhancing operational readiness and building long-term resilience across a complex and dynamic estate.

Key Responsibilities

Security Risk & Assurance

  • Develop and embed a positive security assurance and risk management culture across Airbus UK operations.
  • Design and implement intelligence-led security solutions, utilising data, insights and threat analysis to support informed risk-based decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic security improvement roadmap, including clearly defined actions, timelines and performance measures.
  • Create and maintain Physical Security Risk Assessments (PSRAs), vulnerability assessments and site security reviews across the estate.
  • Ensure security governance, assurance activities and operational controls align with Airbus standards, contractual obligations and industry regulations.
  • Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and business resilience initiatives across critical operational environments.

Training & Development

  • Design, develop and deliver a comprehensive security training and competency framework.
  • Produce and maintain site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, scenario-based exercises, toolbox talks, tabletop exercises and operational briefings.
  • Lead the delivery of security awareness programmes, operational readiness exercises and one-to-one coaching sessions.
  • Develop assessment and accreditation processes to measure competence, compliance and operational effectiveness across all levels of the security operation.
  • Ensure training programmes remain current, effective and aligned to emerging threats, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

Audit, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and deliver a robust audit and assurance framework to drive operational excellence and service consistency across the security function.
  • Lead assurance reviews, compliance audits and operational readiness assessments.
  • Analyse performance data, trends and lessons learned to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish methodologies to capture, review and implement lessons learned from incidents, exercises and audits.
  • Drive a culture of continual improvement through structured evaluation, feedback and corrective action programmes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
