Aircraft Cabin Engineer – Certifying (B1.1 holder)

Certifying Engineer – Cabin Maintenance

Location: On-site, Virgin Atlantic Hangar, Exeter Road, Heathrow Airport, Hounslow, TW6 2PJ

Hours & Contract:

  • Full-time shift pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off
  • Rotating shifts: 7am–7pm and 11am–11pm
  • Permanent position

Salary: Competitive Closing Date: 4th July 2026 (Applications reviewed first-come, first-served; may close early in high volume))


About the Role

As a Certifying Engineer in Cabin Maintenance, you will:

  • Certify maintenance tasks to the highest safety, reliability, and presentation standards
  • Lead small teams (Cabin Technicians, third-party suppliers) & liaise with Technical Control
  • Act as a key technical point of contact between operations and engineering

This role blends hands-on leadership with strict adherence to regulatory compliance, ensuring on-time performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

Certification & Compliance

  • Certify cabin maintenance tasks according to CAA regulations and Virgin Atlantic procedures
  • Ensure accurate, compliant records in e-MRO systems

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Supervise teams to deliver safe, on-time maintenance
  • Champion efficient working practices and CMS briefings
  • Support performance management and team development

Safety & Standards

  • Promote a strong safety culture (EHS, airport regulations)
  • Ensure aircraft interiors meet highest operational and presentation standards

Requirements

  • Valid B1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (mandatory)
  • At least one type rating for:
    • Airbus A330
    • Airbus A350
    • Boeing 787
  • Experience in light/heavy maintenance, preferably in commercial aviation
  • A certified Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship OR equivalent operational experience
  • Strong aeronautical engineering knowledge (airworthiness standards, regulatory compliance)
  • Team leadership experience (supervising, fostering accountability)
  • Working knowledge of aviation IT systems (e-MRO, documentation tools)
  • Full UK driving licence
