This is a temporary role, on-site Metal Polisher role based at Manchester airport, United Kingdom. The Metal Polisher will be responsible for polishing and restoring aircraft brightwork and metal surfaces to a high presentation standard, using approved tools, compounds, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface preparation, masking, and finishing of metal components
- Performing visual checks for defects
- Maintaining consistent quality across all assigned work
- Working closely with appearance, engineering, and ground handling teams to support turnaround and maintenance schedules
- Adhering to safety and compliance requirements
- Maintaining equipment, following detailed work instructions, and completing documentation related to tasks performed
Qualifications:
- Strong metal polishing skills with experience achieving high-quality finishes on brightwork or similar surfaces
- Competence in surface preparation, including cleaning, masking, and handling of tools and materials
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, supported by solid quality control practices
- Understanding of safety procedures, handling of chemicals, and working in an aviation or industrial environment is an advantage
- Ability to work on-site, including standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks in and around aircraft
- Reliable time management, teamwork skills, and capacity to follow written and verbal instructions
- Previous experience in aircraft appearance, automotive detailing, metal finishing, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory
