Aircraft Mechanic – Contractor Position
Location: DEA (UK)
Shift Pattern: 0730–1900 (4on/4off/6on/4off/4on/6off)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic to join us as a contractor.
- Directly support the Shift Supervisor, report to the BMM (Base Maintenance Manager).
- Oversee safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance of Part-145 aircraft maintenance activities.
- Promote a "Just Culture" in safety and incident reporting.
- Ensure high standards of mechanical engineering functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Take particular responsibility for maintenance of aircraft, equipment, and mission systems (as allocated by B1 Engineers or Mechanical Manager).
- Maintain keen attention to procedures for recency of all company and regulatory requirements.
- Assist B1s (B2 Technicians) during mechanical handover.
- Conduct ground movement operations of assigned aircraft under direction of the Shift Supervisor.
- Adhere to Maintenance Manuals, MEL, and MIMO guidelines.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of aircraft maintenance documentation.
- Perform area tidying and cleaning protocols consistently.
- Continuously review and improve standards, practices, and procedures for operational efficiency.
- Complete error and safety reports accurately and on time.
- Support B1s in day-to-day team functions.
- Maintain optimal aircraft performance with excellent customer and stakeholder relations.
- Work at component level in DEA C-Rated workshops (certifying authorisation for Wheel Bays, where applicable).

Advisory & Responsibility Support
- Provide AOG (Aircraft on Ground) on-call support for DEA, third-party aircraft in the UK and overseas.
- Regular comings: Attend Weekly Toolbox Talks and Shift Continuous Improvement Meetings.

Essential Qualifications & Training
- HF Initial/Continuation training.
- SMS (Safety Management System) Training.
- Part-145 Familiarisation Training.
- Formal Aircraft Maintenance Qualification (e.g., Licence Level 4-6*).
Preferred Qualifications
- Aircraft/system familiarisation or Type Rating (where relevant to aircraft families).
