Location: RAF Valley, Isle of Anglesey

Position: Permanent

Salary: £33,028.88 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Overview

Morson Edge is supporting a leading defence aviation organisation in the recruitment of an Aircraft Mechanical Technician to join a highly skilled aircraft maintenance team supporting Hawk aircraft operations at RAF Valley.

Supporting aircraft depth maintenance activities, this role offers the opportunity to develop your engineering skills within a structured, safety-critical environment where quality, teamwork, and technical excellence are at the heart of everything you do.

With a permanent position, a structured four-day working week, and the opportunity to support the UK's military pilot training programme, this role offers a combination of career development, stability, and work-life balance that is increasingly difficult to find elsewhere in the aviation sector.

Working Pattern

  • Monday – Wednesday: 07:00 – 17:00
  • Thursday: 07:00 – 16:30
  • 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and rectify faults on aircraft systems, components, and assemblies
  • Carry out depth maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modification activities
  • Perform functional and system testing in accordance with approved procedures
  • Work to approved maintenance documentation and technical data
  • Ensure compliance with tooling, calibration, and test equipment control procedures
  • Support maintenance delivery in line with operational and programme requirements
  • Escalate technical or maintenance issues where appropriate
  • Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship, and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplined aircraft maintenance team

Requirements

  • Previous practical engineering or aircraft maintenance experience
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a regulated and safety-critical environment
  • Confidence using Microsoft systems for maintenance reporting and record management
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Proactive and safety-focused approach to maintenance activities

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally within Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2675 in Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance, or NVQ Level 3 in a related aeronautical discipline
  • Relevant hands-on experience within an engineering or aircraft maintenance environment is advantageous

Security Requirements

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS and Security Clearance
