Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier’s European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier’s Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Adhere to General Work Requirements
- Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.
- Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint.
- Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.
- Mask, unmask, and re-mask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage.
- Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, and/or brushes.
- Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint.
- Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.
- Perform touch-up work as required.
- Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
- Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required.
- Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification.
- Check for imperfections using discrepancy sheet and documented squawks and perform touch-up work as required.
- Application of primer/paint to aircraft surfaces and small parts. Continuous learning of basic paint applications working with higher grade levels.
- Apply base coat of paint, stripes, decals, custom designs, and vinyl appliqués to aircraft surfaces.

How to thrive in this role?
- Thorough knowledge of mixing paints and different paint systems for example, high solids, conventional and lacquer
- Ability to paint and apply decals and vinyl appliqués on aircraft surfaces.
- Ability to set up paint pots, use spray guns, and related painting equipment.
- Ability to learn basic application of metallic paint and touch-up.
- Necessary abilities to train lower level for the advancement of the business.
- Ability to obtain tug operator’s license
- Ability to learn Metallic Spot-in and blending applications.
- Buffing of surfaces and spot-ins for high quality finish.
