AIRFRAME TECHNICIAN - ST ATHAN - SHIFT PATTERNS AVAILABLE - SECTOR: AEROSPACE / MRO / PART 145 - £30-£32ph OUTSIDE IR35 - 9 MONTHS

About the Opportunity

An established aerospace maintenance organisation is looking for an experienced Airframe Technician to join its growing production team at its Part 145 facility in St Athan. This is an opportunity to work within a safety-critical MRO environment carrying out scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, defect rectification, repairs and modifications while ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance and airworthiness. You'll join an experienced engineering team where safety, continuous improvement and professional development are at the forefront of operations.

The Role

Working as part of the Production team, you'll be responsible for carrying out aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with approved maintenance data, company procedures and Part 145 regulations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Shift Pattern (choose one):

  • Monday - Sunday: 07:00 - 18:15 on a rotating 5 on / 4 off - 5 on / 4 off - 5 on / 5 off shift pattern (1 September - 31 May), plus 10 days refresher training every August
  • Monday - Thursday: 07:00 - 18:15
  • Friday: 07:00 - 14:30

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance in line with customer requirements.
  • Completing inspections, repairs, modifications and defect rectification activities.
  • Working in accordance with Part 145 procedures, Human Factors principles and company maintenance processes.
  • Completing all maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Using Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Maintaining correct control and storage of tooling, equipment and aircraft components.
  • Supporting FOD prevention, workplace housekeeping and engineering best practice.
  • Escalating technical, safety or production issues where required.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, colleagues and support departments.
  • Mentoring junior technicians and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance team.

About You

You'll ideally have experience working within a Part 145 maintenance organisation and possess strong airframe maintenance knowledge gained within a commercial or military aviation environment.

We're interested in people who have:

  • A minimum of three years' aircraft maintenance experience within a Part 145 organisation.
  • Strong experience carrying out aircraft maintenance, repairs and modifications.
  • Good structural repair knowledge and experience working on aircraft structures.
  • Experience using Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Service Bulletins (SBs) and Airworthiness Directives (ADs).
  • Experience with rigging, component replacement and modification embodiment.
  • A good understanding of aircraft systems and maintenance documentation.
  • A proactive approach to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications

  • Recognised Aeronautical Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Human Factors, EWIS and Fuel Tank Safety training.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Right to live and work in the UK.
