Security Officer Liverpool John Lennon Airport
About the Role
Optime is seeking Security Officers to join a prestigious client at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. This role is open to applicants with no previous security experience but must demonstrate a strong interest in aviation, customer service, and security.
What’s on Offer
- Rate of pay: £12.71 per hour
- Shift pattern: 4-on / 2-off
- Flexible starts: As Soon As Possible (shift starts can be as early as 3am)
- Shift length: Up to 12 hours per day

- Contract type: Temp to Perm (performance-based)

Key Duties
- Ensuring the safe and smooth transition of passengers, staff, and airport personnel while maintaining exceptional customer service
- Passenger and baggage screening (including X-Ray screening of cabin & hold baggage)
- Using equipment and manual search techniques to prevent unauthorised items entering secure areas
- Conducting regular patrols across airside and landside locations for access control and security monitoring
- Responding to and investigating incident reports
- Handling emergencies with professionalism and efficiency
- Anticipating and resolving passenger concerns with a highly adaptable and calm demeanour
- Maintaining clear, accurate documentation of incidents and security-related observations

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Availability to commence shifts at 03:00am or earlier
- A customer-centric attitude with a passion for delivering seamless visitor experiences
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to handle diverse groups in stressful situations
- Observational acumen to identify potential security threats
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances while adhering to strict security protocols
- Physical fitness for standing for prolonged periods and carrying out routine duties
- Provable 5-year checkable criminal history (mandatory in aviation)
- Proof of National Insurance
- Proof of current address

Desirable Skills/Experience
- Previous customer service experience, ideally within high-volume environments
- Familiarity with security protocols (helpful but not essential)
Assessments and Compliance
- Enhanced DBS check required following interview
- CAA-compliant background vetting as part of employment process
