AIT Test Technician

Location: Farnborough — full-time, onsite

About the Position

Our client is a space engineering organisation developing electronic hardware for satellite communications applications. Its Farnborough site includes an electronics laboratory supporting engineering and hardware verification activities.

In the role you will provide practical laboratory support, ensuring equipment, test benches and electronic hardware are prepared, maintained and available for engineering use. The position combines hands-on electronics work with equipment calibration, stock control and accurate laboratory documentation.

What You Will Be Working On

The role covers the day-to-day preparation and organisation of the electronics laboratory, including:

  • Setting up and configuring laboratory equipment for engineering and verification activities.
  • Maintaining test benches, cables, fixtures and associated hardware.
  • Assisting engineers with hardware installation, assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Carrying out soldering and PCB rework where required.
  • Coordinating equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Tracking equipment usage, service schedules and calibration records.
  • Managing stocks of cables, connectors, adapters, electronic components and laboratory consumables.
  • Maintaining laboratory procedures, work instructions, equipment registers and engineering records.

What Our Client Is Looking For

For this AIT Test Technician position, our client is looking for someone with experience in:

  • Working within an electronics, test or engineering laboratory.
  • Soldering and PCB rework.
  • Assembling and troubleshooting electronic hardware.
  • Electronic components and commonly used laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining test benches, cables, fixtures or similar laboratory hardware.
  • Equipment calibration, maintenance records or inventory control.
  • Following ESD handling and laboratory safety procedures.

Applicants should hold a Diploma or Certificate in Electronics, or a related discipline. The position also requires someone able to maintain accurate records, organise equipment and manage several practical laboratory tasks effectively.
