Alarm Handler – Tactical Operations Team
£41,192 per annum (£33,764 base + 22% shift allowance)
About the Role
With an opportunity for internal progression, Anglian Water invites applications for new Alarm Handlers to join its business-critical Tactical Operations Team. This 24/7 operational role ensures the seamless, safe operation of one of Europe’s largest monitoring systems for water and wastewater assets.
As an Alarm Handler, you’ll take full ownership of telemetry systems, prioritising risks, escalating incidents and ensuring effective response support for field teams. Your expertise will help maintain reliable services and safeguard our customers—every minute counts.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, interpret and manage telemetry alarms across our water and wastewater assets.
- Deploy alarms to operational teams in line with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Actively filter and triage alarms to ensure operational efficiency and workload productivity.
- Escalate critical risks to Duty Managers and deploy urgent operational responses.
- Raise and manage work orders using SAP and related systems.
- Maintain situational awareness across the operational network 24/7.
- Serve as a single point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Deploy and confirm critical verbal instructions to field teams.
- Produce insightful reports from alarm data to enhance performance.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment such as a 24/7 control room, covering all shifts including weekends and bank holidays. Key requirements include:
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to assess and respond to complex issues.
- Robust organisational and prioritisation abilities to balance high volumes.
- Outstanding communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset with the drive to challenge and continuous improve processes.
- Proficient IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, SAP, or similar systems.
Desirable: Experience in telemetry, control rooms, or operational monitoring environments, as well as knowledge of water or wastewater operations.
