About the Role

The Casual Server at The Savoy plays a pivotal role in ensuring our legendary luxury hospitality and Five-Star service experience. You’ll be a central part of Food & Beverage team in the Gallery, working under the guidance of the Restaurant General Manager. The Savoy is one of the world’s most iconic hotels—blending its 1889 heritage with modernity—known for delivering exceptional service to guests including royalty, leaders, and cultural legends.

About Your Purpose

The Casual Server role embodies exceptional service—an art we perfect daily at The Savoy. Your mission is simple yet profound:

Key Responsibilities

Core Accountabilities

  • Deliver unparalleled guest experience by maintaining impeccable standards of service excellence in all dining formats (breakfast, afternoon tea, evening meals).
  • Know and enthusiastically inform guests about our food & beverage offerings, including menu selections, beverages, and exclusive promotions.
  • Uphold all dining policies, procedures, and hygiene standards to ensure that every Savoy luxury experience is exceptional.
  • Directly impact guest satisfaction and servicerevenue through upselling and ensuring smooth service delivery.

Guest Interaction & Hospitality

  • Engage guests from first contact to departure, showing genuine warmth and adaptability to each guest’s expectations.
  • Provide effortless guidance on menu choices—painlessly answering questions while maintaining an inviting atmosphere.
  • Handle reservations manages sensitive guest data and preferences with discretion and accuracy.
  • Build rapport while observing each guest’s preferred level of interaction (from conversation to attentive service).
  • Share knowledge of service offers, promotions, and preparation, including key moments in The Savoy’s history to enhance experiences.

Salary

  • Competitive compensation for this exemplary role: £18.70 per hour, including service charge.

About You

Essential Qualifications

To join our legendary team, your experience and skillset should reflect The Savoy’s service culture. Please specify how your experience aligns with these requirements.

  • 1-2 years of experience in luxury hospitality, serving or hosting, with a flair for creating personalized guest interactions.
  • Passionate about Five-Star hospitality—understanding how to achieve impeccable standards and recognizing nuanced guest needs.
  • Empathetic, intuitive speaker—read guest personalities quickly; tailor your service to their desired level of interaction.
  • Quick thinker and problem-solvers – acting decisively under high-pressure situations without compromising standards or courtesy.
  • Proven coping ability in fast-paced environments requiring teamwork, adaptability, and demand management across days and shifts (breakfast, afternoon tea, evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • Strong collaboration skills—know how collective effort maintains seamless operations.
  • Full proficiency in spoken and written English (critical for active guest communication).
