Alternative Provision Teacher (SEN): Peterborough

Location: Peterborough

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Term-Time Only)

Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Salary: GBP 32,000 - GBP 36,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Start Date: 1st September 2026

Required Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Are you an inspirational, resilient educator dedicated to re-engaging young people in learning? We are seeking a qualified specialist for a permanent, full-time Alternative Provision Teacher role based in Peterborough.

In this vital position, you will work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils who find it challenging to access mainstream education due to Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, or complex medical needs. Many of these young people are currently awaiting a permanent placement in a specialist school setting and require a highly supportive, adaptive environment to bridge the gap in their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and Deliver Targeted Sessions: Design and implement highly tailored, engaging 1:1 and small group lessons that align with the specific academic and developmental capacities of KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • Remove Barriers to Learning: Adapt teaching methodologies to support pupils with a diverse mix of SEN, SEMH, and medical needs, rebuilding their confidence and motivation.
  • Monitor and Assess Progress: Track individual student development, providing comprehensive feedback and adjusting learning plans to support successful transitions into long-term specialist settings.
  • Positive Behaviour Support: Establish safe, positive, and predictable learning spaces by deploying proactive de-escalation techniques and robust behavioural strategies.
  • Collaborative Practice: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, external agencies, and families to ensure holistic support for every learner.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
