Ambulance Fleet Assistant

Ambulance Fleet Assistant (AFA) – Leicestershire

Location

This full-time role is based across our depots in Thurmaston, Kibworth, and Loughborough.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Ambulance Fleet Assistant (AFA) to ensure the full mechanical and ancillary equipment compliance of our fleet vehicles. The role requires you to:

  • Monitor and maintain scheduled mechanical and ancillary equipment ensuring timely repair of reported defects.
  • Update the fleet management system (Fleetcheck) daily to reflect completed maintenance.
  • Manage Vehicle Off-Road (VOR) incidents, ensuring defects are cleared with supporting documentation uploaded.
  • Coordinate scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, repairs, and parts stock management.
  • Conduct vehicle deep cleans to a high standard and complete associated documentation.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (08:30–16:30), Monday to Friday.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Repair, service, and maintain vehicles/equipment as per manufacturer guidelines, including:
    • Topping up fluids (e.g., washer fluid)
    • Conducting oil changes
    • Replacing bulbs and wipers
    • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
  • Schedule and perform high-standard vehicle deep cleans, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Promptly clear any vehicle defects, supplying supporting paperwork.
  • Require vehicles returned to service only when repaired to a safe standard.
  • Maintain stock levels of basic spare parts and replenish as needed.
  • Advise the Fleet Management Team if a vehicle cannot be safely repaired.
  • Report any incident-involved equipment to the Fleet Management Team.
  • Ensure de-kitting/decommissioning and inventory logging of vehicles for disposal.

Requirements

  • Hold a full (manual), valid UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points.
  • Demonstrated experience in practical and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to maximise vehicle cleanliness to a professional standard.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with a positive, professional attitude towards colleagues.
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and act independently.
  • Flexible and collaborative with strong teamwork skills.
  • High drive, determination, and motivation to meet business targets.
