Private Equity Associate – Mid-Market Buyouts - Tier 1
About the Role
Our client is a leading Benelux private equity investor focused on partnering with ambitious entrepreneurs and management teams across the Netherlands and Belgium. The firm invests in profitable lower mid-market businesses and supports them through buyouts, succession transactions, growth initiatives, and value creation strategies.
As an Associate, you will work closely with senior investment professionals across the full investment lifecycle—from sourcing and evaluating opportunities through execution, portfolio management, and eventual exit. The role offers significant responsibility from day one and direct exposure to entrepreneurs, management teams, and investment decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and evaluate new investment opportunities across a range of industries.
- Build complex financial models, valuation analyses, and LBO models.
- Perform commercial, financial, and strategic due diligence.
- Coordinate external advisors throughout transaction processes.
- Prepare investment papers and presentations for the Investment Committee.
- Support transaction structuring, negotiations, and execution.
- Monitor portfolio company performance through financial and operational KPI analysis.
- Work alongside management teams to identify value creation opportunities.
- Support refinancing, add-on acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Conduct market research and identify attractive investment sectors and acquisition targets.
- Develop relationships with entrepreneurs, corporate advisors, and other market participants.

- Experience advising on or executing mid-market transactions.
- Exposure to management buyouts (MBOs), leveraged buyouts (LBOs), growth equity investments, or corporate carve-outs.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and transaction documentation.
- Experience working with founder-led or privately owned businesses.
- Knowledge of the Dutch private equity and M&A market.
