The Role
MYN NHS Client is seeking a dedicated UK and relevant experiences Consultant Anaesthetist to join our collaborative and forward-thinking department. This is a generalist post with the scope to accommodate specialist interests, which can be discussed at interview.
Key details:
- Substantive post – 10 Programmed Activities per week
- Oncall rota: 1 in 12 (Category A) with 3% on call supplement
- Flexible working – we are committed to respecting requests for flexible and less than full-time working
Duties and Responsibilities
- The appointee will be expected to provide a first-class anaesthetic service for elective and emergency cases in all surgical specialties. Clinical anaesthetic duties will be undertaken mainly in the theatre suite but may also include Obstetrics.
- The appointee will take part in regular Departmental, Academic, and Audit meetings.
- The post holder would be expected to participate in Continuing Medical Education to the level required by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
- The post holder is expected to be familiar with and adhere to the Trust’s policies on Clinical Governance, Confidentiality, and Infection Control.

Essential Requirements
- Be on the GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthetics, OR
- Be within 6 months of obtaining Specialist Registration at the time of interview
This is a substantive Consultant post and recruitment will be undertaken via the Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) process.
Person Specification Highlights - Essential
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration with Licence to Practise; On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attainment
Experience
- Proven experience as a generalist in Anaesthesia; Higher training or equivalent in ITU or Obstetric anaesthesia
Teaching
- Commitment to and training in Medical Education; Proven teaching experience
Clinical Governance
- Evidence of robust clinical audit practice
Skills
- Excellent communication skills; Leadership ability; Ability to work in a team
Language
- IELTS or OET Passed Mandatory (Overseas Consultants)
