The Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital
One of the largest centres of its kind in Europe, delivering high volume and low complexity cases locally for the people we serve across our region.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Anaesthetic Practitioner to join us.
To join our friendly theatre team, you will need to be a motivated, confident, and flexible individual with experience in an operating theatre environment. You will need to either be: NMC registered (RN1) or HCPC registered.

The Dame Clare Marx Building
Houses our elective orthopaedic centre (ESEOC) with a focus on elective orthopaedic surgery and day cases. The centre has eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services including radiology and EBME.
Responsibilities
Prepare the anaesthetic room and/or operating theatre for the operating session to include:
- the safe custody and preparation of drugs and infusions
- the preparation of airway management equipment
- the safety checking and preparation of instruments, mechanical and electrical equipment and environmental factors

Ensure adherence to Trust/local policies, guidelines, and other legislation and support National and local initiatives e.g. Saving Lives, WHO Surgical Safety Check List, GIRFT.
Take part in internal rotation through all areas of the department as required to meet the needs of the service on a 24-hour basis including trauma.
