Analyst, Contract Logistics (Inventory & Operations)

Job Req No: 120435 Location: Brackmills, Northampton Hours: Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:00 Type: Full Time

About the Role

At DSV, we’re shaping the future of logistics. Join our growing team in Northampton and support inventory and warehouse operations with impactful analytical work.

Responsibilities

Prepare, maintain, and improve operational reporting through:

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reports for inventory, operations, and senior management review.
  • Job Clocking (JC) productivity reporting, identifying trends and operational issues.
  • ABC analyses across clients, recommending pick-face reviews, storage strategies, and stock layout optimisation.
  • Trend and exception reporting for stock accuracy, productivity, and compliance.
  • Data validation and analysis from sources like the WMS, Job Clocking, and approved tools.
  • Writing/maintaining SQL and Excel extracts (post training) under DSV’s access controls.
  • Compliance support for processes (putaway, storage, picking, inventory checks).
  • Shrinkage, capacity, and client allocation monitoring via data packs.
  • Developing Excel, SQL, and automated reporting tools to streamline workflows.
  • Supporting continuous improvement, customer implementations, and operational changes through data-driven analysis.
  • CargoWrite reporting and EDI/Lightwell validation (after training).
  • Ad-hoc analysis for Inventory Team Leader, Supervisor, Stock & Systems Manager, and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

Core Criteria:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel: Pivots, lookups, formulas, data validation, and report automation.
  • SQL experience or equivalent self-taught knowledge (DSV training available).
  • Strong analytical thinking to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with data validation skills.
  • Communication skills for cross-team presentations and stakeholder reporting.
  • Knowledge of warehouse/logistics operations or a swift learner mindset.
  • Ability to prioritise deadlines and manage ad-hoc requests.
  • Continuous improvement mindset to reduce manual processes.

Desirable:

  • Experience in contract logistics, warehousing, supply chain, or operational reporting.
  • WMS systems familiarisation (e.g., CargoWrite, RedPrairie).
  • Hands-on Job Clocking, labour productivity, Power BI, Power Query, or VBA.
  • CompTIA Data+ Certification or equivalent.
