Commercial Analyst – Pricing & Promotions Team

Sainsbury’s – Data & Analytics

Data is the backbone of Sainsbury’s: from driving innovation to shaping retail’s future with leading AI algorithms. Here, you’ll leverage our industry-leading datasets—spanning Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat, and Nectar—to deliver measurable impact at scale. Our Technically advanced, commercially focused Data & Analytics team pioneers groundbreaking solutions: from forecasting & optimisation to personalisation & ML.

Collaborating with trading, value strategy, and engineering, you’ll help create a retail landscape where data makes every decision—Nellie, our CEO, calls it "rewiring the brain of food tech"—and you’ll be at its core.

About the Role

The Opportunity

As an Analyst in the Commercial Analytics team, you’ll use data and advanced techniques to drive strategy, pricing, and promotions across all channels—delivering real-world impact. Fit with our Pricing & Promotions team, you’ll help refine pricing algorithms, exploit promotional trends, and develop data-driven tools that optimise market responsiveness.

You’ll work on cutting-edge challenges: testing new models, automating insights, and interpreting complex data to influence pricing for millions of customers. Even better, you’ll stay curious, collaborative, and incisive alongside a team that respects business acumen and technical aptitude. This isn’t just a role—it’s shaping the future of retail.

Key Responsibilities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
