Analyst, Risk Analytics Group

Analyst – Risk Analytics Group

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) | London, UK

Do you want your voice heard and your actions to count? Discover your opportunity with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG)—one of the world’s leading financial groups, shaping the future of finance through integrity, innovation, and purpose.

About the Role

Across 40+ countries and home to 150,000 colleagues, MUFG is dedicated to building long-term relationships, serving society, and fostering sustainable growth. As a world’s most trusted financial group with over 350 years of heritage, we invite you to join our Risk Analytics Group in London, where your quantitative expertise can drive meaningful impact.

This is not just a role—it’s an opportunity to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in finance, shaping risk models that align with global regulatory standards while contributing to a collaborative, values-driven culture.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Analyst in Risk Analytics, you’ll play a central role in:

  • Developing and maintaining market risk models that underpin internal controls and regulatory capital requirements (e.g., VaR, Incremental Risk Charge (IRC)).
  • Validating new approaches to risk metrics in line with evolving regulations, such as FRTB (Fundamental Review of the Trading Book).
  • Troubleshooting complex issues—investigating risks, proposing rigorous solutions, and ensuring robustness across global financial markets.
  • Collaborating with model validation, IT, and project management teams to enhance operational resilience and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicating findings clearly to stakeholders, from technical teams to senior management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Contributing to ad-hoc high-impact projects, expanding your expertise across risk analytics, regulatory compliance, and financial innovation.

This is a role where technical precision meets human impact—where choices you make directly strengthen MUFG’s risk framework and protect its global operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model Development & Validation

    • Assist in building and maintaining advanced market risk models (e.g., stochastic bond curves, option pricing models).
    • Design and execute model validation tests to assess assumptions, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory benchmarks.
    • Propose enhancements to operational controls around risk models, identifying gaps and recommending mitigations.
  • Problem-Solving & Technical Execution

    • Investigate model discrepancies or operational issues, presenting data-driven solutions to stakeholders.
    • Specify requirements for system enhancements, testing changes to ensure alignment with existing frameworks.
    • Automate repetitive tasks using Excel/VBA, Python, or R to improve efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
