Role Description

STR, a CoStar group company, is seeking a London-based Analyst to support international forecasting efforts and ensure STR maintains its position as a leading provider of forward-looking hotel performance data worldwide. This role demand an efficient, data-driven thinker with excellent research and analytic skills and a strong understanding of global hospitality performance. The Analyst will be part of a global forecast team responsible for producing hotel performance forecasts on a quarterly basis alongside actionable narratives underscoring the forecasted data.

Responsibilities

Forecasting

Under the direction of the Forecast Director, assist in the production and delivery of STR's Market Forecasts outside of North America. Contribute to development of forecasting methodology that captures region-specific macroeconomic and hotel performance trends. Collaborate with internal teams, STR's external partners, and conduct market research to investigate market conditions and demand drivers, adjusting forecast projections accordingly. Proactively build an in-depth understanding of global hotel performance and key trends impacting the hospitality industry, using knowledge of market trends and demand drivers to create compelling hotel performance storylines. Communicate effectively through written memos/analyses and verbal interactions with clients and colleagues regarding hotel performance trends and forecast data and assumptions.

Data analysis, visualization, and storytelling

Promote STR as a thought leader within the industry, transforming data into meaningful insights by visualizing STR's data for conferences, events, meetings, and client engagements. Contribute analyses to blogs, articles and white papers, which are distributed to clients and stakeholders on a regular basis.

Data integrity, security, and quality

Maintain high levels of data quality and accuracy by applying and maintaining process and robust review. Investigates anomalies and potential errors in data to understand the root cause and find resolution. Adhere to STR’s standards and guidelines for data confidentiality.

Personal and professional development

Maintain proactive and open communication with the Product team, as well as STR’s global analyst teams, whose members sit in different offices throughout the world. Keep up to date on hotel industry trends and news, with particular emphasis on the facts that affect hotel performance. Ensure CoStar brand and corporate values are evident to the customer at all times.

Qualifications

Strong understanding of the hotel industry, with experience working within the industry a plus. Must be adept in use of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Familiarity with Power BI and SSMS preferred. Customer-focused with excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to present to clients. Adaptable to changing working environments, priorities, and organizational needs. Results-oriented with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks independently or as part of a team. Analytical and research skills, including the ability to analyse, interpret, and visualize data, and conduct research to explain data and validate information. Strong decision-making skills, making timely decisions based on available information and taking ownership of decisions. Proficient in presenting trends and insights to relevant stakeholders, both internal and external. Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines across different time zones. Bachelor’s degree and minimum two years of related work experience; or equivalent work experience
