Aspion are delighted to be supporting a growing and innovative business in their search for an Analytical Chemist to join their Product Development Laboratory in Ellesmere Port.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly technical team, supporting the development of alcoholic beverages, functional drink ingredients, and new product innovations whilst also providing analytical support across the wider laboratory function.
The Role
As an Analytical Chemist, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of analytical testing activities, supporting both new product development projects and quality assurance requirements.
- Working within a fast-paced laboratory environment, you will independently operate a range of analytical instrumentation, interpret results, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical insight to support product development activities.
- You will also play an important role in maintaining laboratory compliance, supporting audits, and ensuring all testing is completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform analytical testing across a variety of beverage, ingredient and product development projects.
- Independently operate and maintain analytical instrumentation including GC, UV-Vis and refractometry equipment.
- Analyse and interpret laboratory data, identifying trends, anomalies and root causes.
- Support new product development projects through analytical testing and investigation work.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and equipment issues.
- Produce accurate technical reports and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support laboratory compliance with GLP, ISO 17025, GMP and COSHH requirements.
- Assist with internal audits and quality system activities.
- Provide analytical support and guidance to QA and NPD laboratory teams.
- Ensure all work is conducted safely and in line with laboratory Health & Safety procedures.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Degree qualified in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Previous experience working within an analytical laboratory environment.
- Strong hands-on experience using analytical techniques such as:
- Gas Chromatography (GC)
- UV-Visible Spectroscopy
- Refractometry
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication abilities.
- Experience within food, beverage, ingredients, pharmaceutical, environmental or chemical sectors would be highly advantageous.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider laboratory team.
