Analytical Chemist 📍 Onyx Scientific | Analytical Services | Pharmaceutical CDMO
Are you an Analytical Chemist looking to develop your career in a fast-growing Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) where your work can help bring life-changing medicines to patients?
At Onyx Scientific, we partner with academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical organisations worldwide, providing innovative services from early discovery through to commercial manufacture. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Analytical Chemist to join our Analytical Services team.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a modern, well-equipped laboratory, supporting both research and manufacturing activities while developing your technical expertise in a dynamic scientific environment.
The Role
As an Analytical Chemist, you will support analytical testing activities across the business while ensuring work is carried out to GMP standards and in line with our commitment to quality and scientific excellence.
You will work closely with colleagues across analytical, research, and manufacturing teams, contributing to projects for a wide range of global clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform calibrations and verifications for analytical laboratory equipment
- Maintain GMP standards and ensure accurate documentation in line with ALCOA++ principles
- Conduct analytical work using techniques such as HPLC, GC, FT-IR, LC-MS, and wet chemistry methods
- Maintain a high standard of laboratory cleanliness and organisation
- Liaise with senior analytical staff and cross-functional teams where required
- Ensure all analysis, calibrations, and verifications are recorded to GMP standards

About You
We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented analytical chemist who enjoys practical laboratory work within a structured, regulated environment.
You'll be committed to working safely, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring analytical work and documentation are completed accurately and on time. You'll be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively while contributing positively to team objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong understanding of analytical techniques and laboratory practices.
- Experience working safely in laboratory environments.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly relating to documentation and compliance.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Ability to interpret analytical data, identify potential issues, and work within regulated systems.
Desirable Experience

- Experience with Chiral HPLC or GC analysis.
- Experience in analytical method development.
- Experience working within GMP-regulated environments.
- Familiarity with SOP-driven quality systems and documentation requirements.
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical development or manufacturing activities.
