Position Summary: Ocular Therapeutix is seeking an Analytical Chemist to support Pharmaceutical Development activities. This role is responsible for laboratory testing to characterize the chemical and physical properties of the company’s lead sustained release hydrogel-based intravitreal implant drug product. Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Support Pharmaceutical Development efforts to characterize implant prototypes generated during production scale-up and process improvement studies. Perform analytical testing and data analysis using standard techniques and instrumentation (e.g., assay, purity, solubility, stability, dissolution). Contribute to method development, qualification, and routine testing; interface with contract analytical laboratories as needed. Apply appropriate physicochemical characterization techniques to understand drug product, API, and polymer properties. Analyze, interpret, and present data to cross-functional project teams. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of chemists and engineers to gather knowledge, identify gaps, design experiments, transfer methods, and document results. Support calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical equipment as necessary. Follow good documentation practices (maintaining contemporaneous records, laboratory notebooks, equipment logbooks, forms, etc.). Qualification Requirements: BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, with 2+ years of relevant analytical development experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Hands-on experience with chromatographic techniques (HPLC/UPLC, GPC/SEC) and data systems (e.g., Empower). Familiarity with additional characterization techniques (e.g., KF, DSC, TGA, DVS, FT-IR, XRPD) is desirable. Experience with USP Apparatus 4 dissolution testing is preferred. Working knowledge of GxP environments and relevant ICH/FDA guidelines is a plus. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. A collaborative, hard-working, team player passionate about science who can effectively work in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
