About the Role

We are seeking an Analytical Engineering Manager to lead, scale, and mature our Analytical Engineering capability. Operating on a level of technical and strategic authority alongside our other Data leadership roles you will co-author our data platform architecture and drive the long-term data strategy across the business.

You will hold end-to-end responsibility for the technical implementation and architecture of our data platform from the moment data hits the Bronze layer through to its ultimate presentation inside modern analytical workbenches (such as Hex) and business intelligence tools. This role is highly visible and strategic, combining elite data platform engineering practices with direct talent design. You will actively shape the resources, skills, and profiles required to deliver high-performance analytical engineering, ensuring our engineers are perfectly equipped whether working within the core data function or deployed into cross-functional Pods to execute defined pieces of work.

Why this role is exciting

This isn't a traditional downstream analytics management role. You will have full technical sovereignty over how data is processed, modelled, and consumed across the entire enterprise, with the executive backing to shape your team and its capabilities your way. Standing side-by-side with Data leadership, you will co-author a modern, AI-enabled, real-time data fabric, ensuring our engineers carry elite data practices into every cross-functional Pod they support.

What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Architectural Parity & Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary technical authority for the Analytical Engineering function. Partner as an equal peer within Data leadership to co-author company-wide data architecture decisions, tool selection, and global data platform governance patterns.
  • End-to-End Post-Bronze Ownership: Take full technical accountability for the data transformation lifecycle. This spans the entire medallion journey—cleansing data out of the Bronze layer, engineering robust Silver and Gold multi-use layers, establishing the enterprise semantic layer, and optimising the final presentation within consumption workbenches (e.g., Hex). Note: This role is exclusive of the initial data acquisition and extraction into the Bronze layer.
  • Resource, Pod & Capability Shaping: Act as the chief architect of the Analytical Engineering talent blueprint. Proactively define, develop, and forecast the resource requirements, skill matrices, and profiles needed to deliver analytics capability across the organisation. You will establish the standards that ensure our engineers maintain engineering excellence when embedded into delivery-focused Pods across various business areas.
  • Semantic Enablement for AI: Lead the design of advanced metric graphs and semantic layer protocols specifically optimised to safely feed generative AI applications, text-to-SQL interfaces, and natural language analytics engines (leveraging tools like Claude and Gemini).
  • Engineering Rigour & Cost Optimisation: Champion the embedding of standard software engineering practices into analytics (CI/CD, automated testing, version control). Jointly own lakehouse compute efficiencies by auditing transformation query performance and dbt build strategies to minimise platform overheads.
  • People Development: Line-manage, mentor, and inspire a growing team of analytical engineers. Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture centred around data quality, metric single-source-of-truth, and continuous learning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
