Job Description

This is a full time, permanent position, working a flexible 36.5 hour week, Monday – Friday.

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and innovative Analytical Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity based at our client’s facility, a world class Pharmaceutical company based in Macclesfield. We have an opportunity for experienced Analytical Scientists with experience of drug substance development in the pharmaceutical industry.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the key point of contact for Eurofins clients, providing analytical testing expertise and subject matter knowledge across designated product areas.
  • Use your analytical chemistry expertise to support global laboratories and external partners, ensuring the robustness, performance and compliance of analytical methods for drug substances.
  • Coordinate analytical activities and support major change programmes and market access projects, working closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing and External Sourcing.
  • Lead the transfer of commercial analytical methods to multiple laboratory locations, ensuring successful implementation and consistent operational standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges, drive continuous improvement and maintain regulatory compliance across analytical operations.
  • Lead and develop a small team of analytical scientists, providing technical guidance, mentoring and support while contributing to international projects that may involve travel.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree, Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related scientific discipline, with relevant post-graduate industry experience.
  • Have proven experience in pharmaceutical analysis within a development laboratory environment, including leadership experience and the ability to guide technical teams.
  • Have a strong understanding of chemical substance lifecycle management, from late-stage development through to commercial manufacture and ongoing product support.
  • Have excellent project management, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across multiple functions.
  • Have experience in data analysis and statistical interpretation, alongside extensive knowledge of analytical method development, optimisation, validation and transfer for release and stability testing.
  • Have a thorough understanding of analytical techniques, root cause investigation, change assessment, SHE and cGMP requirements, with exposure to wider CMC disciplines, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and Manufacturing considered advantageous.
