Analytics Engineer (Azure Synapse & Python) – Kew Gardens, Richmond


About the Role

Job Title: Analytics Engineer (Band F7, Permanent)

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Analytics Engineer with expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure Synapse and Python to design, maintain, and optimise Kew’s commercial data platform, pipelines, and analytical data assets.

This critical role directly supports Kew’s Customer and Supporter Data Strategy, ensuring you build scalable data solutions that:

  • Drive audience insights for targeted engagement strategies
  • Enable personalised supporter interactions
  • Unlock AI-driven insights for commercial growth
  • Facilitate data-intensive, trusted decision-making

As part of Kew’s Data Platform Strategy, you’ll ensure solutions are well-governed, reliable, and fit-for-purpose.

Hours: Full-time Contract: Permanent Salary: £61,337 per annum (Band F7) Location: Hybrid (primary site: Kew Gardens, Richmond) Closing Date: 15/07/2026 Interviews: Provisional date – 29th July 2026

What You’ll Do

You’ll lead and collaborate to:

  • Develop high-quality, scalable data assets that connect diverse sources—enhancing audiences, programs, and campaigns.
  • Optimise data pipelines for performance, reliability, and governance, ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and actionable.
  • automate processes, +troubleshoot complex data challenges.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Marketing & Commercial, IT, and внекомменаций for effective data implementation.
  • Explore emerging techniques (e.g., AI/ML use cases) to drive growth and attende savings.

Key Friends:

  • Build trust in data utilisation while adapting to rapidly evolving environments.
  • Enjoy problem-solving in an interdisciplinary team using Python, Azure Synapse, and (building SQL knowledge would be advantageous).
  • Collaborate closely with Lead Data Platform Engineer in the IT Directorate.

Who You Are

You have:

  • Deep hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure Synapse, including stored procedures, pipelines, T-SQL, and data optimisation.
  • Proficiency in Python for data wrangling, ETL processes, and (optional) packaging.
  • Passion for data quality, governance, and reliability.
  • Strong analytical curiosity—enjoyed exploring queries, understanding, and improving data workflows and outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings, particularly in _data-driven marketing, where not everything follows a set script.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to unstructured problems.
