Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist

Location: On-site at Finn Pathologists (Hybrid working will be considered)

Employment: Full-time

Our Laboratory Division consists of two laboratories (Finn Pathologists and AXIOM Laboratories) and is dedicated to providing the highest quality veterinary diagnostic services. Our large and diverse histopathology team comprises pathologists with ACVP, ECVP, FRCPath and MMedVet(Path) qualifications, with expertise across a broad range of disciplines. Finn Pathologists are committed to continually invest in new technologies and equipment, including digital pathology, in-house immunohistochemistry, AI and automated staining. Finn Pathologists also supports research projects and undertakes collaborations with various stakeholders to advance our knowledge in the fields of veterinary diagnostic and prognostic testing.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and service-oriented anatomic pathologist with diagnostic laboratory experience. In this role, you would be expected to:

  • Be responsible for examination of digitally processed histopathology submissions
  • Prepare and issue pathology reports ensuring high scientific standards are met and delivered in a timely way to meet the turnaround of results
  • Contribute on a rotational basis to onsite pathology duties assisting in trimming of complicated case
  • Contribute on a rotational basis to pathology duties, assisting with client queries and supporting the wider team with administrative objectives
  • Consult and assist other pathologists in performing histopathology caseloads and interact with and provide advice to laboratory personnel
  • Answer queries relating to your own case reports by phone or e-mail from referring clinicians and advise on further testing, where appropriate
  • Assist with providing required pathology training to specialist residents from various disciplines
  • Promote the growth of the laboratory division by participating in meetings and developing professional relationships

Candidate Eligibility, Essential Qualifications And Profile

The candidate should hold active membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS)

  • Board certification, or eligibility, in veterinary anatomic pathology (DipECVP, DipACVP, FRCPath), or equivalent is essential
  • They will have excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate well with other team members, staff and clients, and to work as part of a team
  • They will have good personal organizational skills and an ability to work well under pressure

We also encourage our pathologists to deliver CPD sessions to residents and vets across CVS and non-CVS veterinary practices, with adequate time given to prepare for these.

In addition, our pathologists can apply for CVS-funded research, either independently or in collaboration.
