Android Engineer (Contract) | Active SC Clearance Required | Outside IR35
Rate: £400–£425 per day (Negotiable)
Contract: Initial 4 months (Strong likelihood of extension)
Location: UK Based - Fully Remote (1 day onsite per month for key collaboration sessions)
We're supporting a fast-growing technology consultancy as they continue to expand their engineering capability, delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes across some of the UK's most important public sector organisations.
This is an opportunity to join a highly capable engineering team working on modern native Android applications, helping to deliver secure, scalable digital services used by thousands of users.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building and enhancing native Android applications using Kotlin.
- Developing clean, scalable, and maintainable mobile solutions.
- Working closely with backend engineers to integrate APIs and cloud services.
- Collaborating with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Contributing to mobile architecture, technical design, and engineering best practices.
- Driving code quality through testing, reviews, and modern engineering practices.
- Improving CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Exploring new technologies and AI-assisted development tooling to improve engineering productivity.

What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience developing native Android applications.
- Excellent knowledge of Kotlin and the Android SDK.
- Experience building production mobile applications at scale.
- Strong understanding of modern Android architecture, including MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose and Android Jetpack libraries.
- Experience with Coroutines, Flow, and Dependency Injection (Hilt or Dagger).
- Comfortable working within collaborative Agile engineering teams.
- Experience working within product-led organisations.
- Someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges.

Nice to Have
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
- AWS or cloud-native application experience.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
- Previous experience delivering mobile solutions within secure or regulated environments.
Essential: Active SC Clearance (must already hold live clearance).
