Join Starling Bank as an Android Engineer

We're on a mission to fix banking with a fully digital bank built on the cutting edge of fintech.

About the Role

Introducing Starling – the first and leading digital bank in the UK. Our vision is simple: regain trust in banking by building an innovative, customer-first platform that embraces technology while treating people fairly.

As an engineering team, we operate like a fast-growing tech company with a lean, open structure that empowers everyone to drive disruptive change. Innovation, collaboration, and customer obsession sit at the core of everything we do.

Our mission aims to demystify money for everyone using Kotlin, RxJava, MVVM, Dagger, and Realm—building the tools and improving the Android app. New features and app updates are released every week.

If you want to work with the latest Android technologies, make a real-world impact, and drive change in fintech, this role is for you!

What We Offer You

  • hybrid working with a preference for commutable distance from our offices
  • 1 day minimum on-site per week (or more, if you choose)
  • 25 days (plus flexible use of public holidays + 1 extra for your birthday)
  • up to 5 extra days off annually (trade days countrywide)
  • 16 hours paid volunteering time
  • enhanced pension (salary sacrifice scheme), life insurance (4x salary), and group income protection
  • private medical insurance with mental health and cancer care support
  • partner discounts with Waitrose, Mr&Mrs Smith, and Peloton
  • generous family-friendly policies
  • refer-a-friend incentives + Perkbox membership (shop discounts, health platform, weekly perks)

Your Key Responsibilities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
