About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Android Developer to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality native Android applications that adhere to modern, scalable architecture principles. The ideal candidate will possess active SC clearance and have a proven track record of delivering secure, high-performance Android solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovative features, optimize application performance, and ensure compliance with government standards such as those set by the Government Digital Service (GDS). Additionally, familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot and AI platform integrations will be highly advantageous. Your expertise will contribute to building robust mobile applications that meet stringent security and usability requirements.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications
- Strong experience in Kotlin (preferred) and Java, along with comprehensive knowledge of the Android SDK.
- Candidates should demonstrate proven experience in integrating RESTful APIs and external services, as well as hands-on familiarity with Google Play Console, app signing, and release management processes.
- A solid understanding of mobile performance optimization techniques and secure coding practices is vital.
- Familiarity with modern Android architecture components such as MVVM and Jetpack libraries is also required.
- An active SC clearance is essential for this role.

Desirable qualifications
- Experience working within GDS standards.
- Familiarity with AI platforms and APIs such as OpenAI or Azure AI.
- Previous use of AI development tools like GitHub Copilot or similar coding assistants.
- Knowledge of AI/UX interaction patterns and best practices will be considered an asset, helping to shape innovative and user-centric mobile solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin/Java and the Android SDK to meet project specifications and user needs.
- Integrate RESTful APIs and external services into mobile workflows, ensuring seamless data exchange and functionality.
- Optimize application performance through effective caching strategies, offline support, and API efficiency improvements.
- Support production releases by preparing applications for submission to the Google Play Store, including testing, documentation, and compliance checks.
- Address and resolve Play Store compliance issues, responding promptly to rejection feedback to ensure smooth app deployment.
- Implement AI engineering and development practices by leveraging AI agents and coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, refactoring, and testing.
- Review and validate all AI-generated code to ensure it meets security, quality, and functional standards before deployment.
- Utilize AI tools to support debugging, root cause analysis, and impact assessment, enhancing development efficiency and application reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate modern architectural patterns and best practices, fostering continuous improvement.
