About the Role
Position: Android Platform Engineer
Work Environment: National Security Business Join a growing and highly trusted supplier in the NS (National Security) domain, where you’ll deliver mission-critical solutions essential for safeguarding the nation. Focus on cutting-edge technology—including AI/DS (Artificial Intelligence/Defence Systems), Cybersecurity, Cloud, DevOps, and SRE (Site Reliability Engineering)—securing long-term projects across the latest frameworks.

Responsibilities
• Develop highly bespoke software for the Android ecosystem—beyond app development—to work across the entire Android tech stack, collaborating on unique projects that deliver mission-critical outcomes.
• Focus on functional code that serves National Security partners, rather than aiming for app store profit.
• Tackle innovative challenges where even advanced tools (Stack Overflow, ChatGPT) fall short. Your technical curiosity will drive you to create custom solutions for a safer future through compelling fuelled delivery.
• Contribute to projects requiring deep skills in sensors, communications, cybersecurity, and AI/ML.
Requirements
• Proficiency in:
- Android app development using Java and Android Studio.
- Experience with Android or Linux internals.
- Low-level programming languages such as C and C++.

• Clearance prerequisites:
- Due to the role’s security-focused nature, you must be eligible to achieve SC (Security Check) or DV (Developed Vetted) clearance.
Where You’ll Work
• Location: Our Romsey site, surrounded by the serene Hampshire countryside, near the picturesque New Forest District and within easy travel of the South Coast.
• Environment:
- Situated in a tranquil setting—not a typical corporate office, but a manor-house style location with:
- An on-site gym and restaurant.
- Ample parking and picturesque grounds (including springtime daffodils).
