Android Security Researcher

Android Security Researcher – CoreTech Security Collaboration

About the Role

As an Android Security Researcher, you will conduct innovative research on the Android platform, developing prototypes, performing reverse engineering (both static and dynamic), and testing software to uncover implementation vulnerabilities.

Your expertise in Android internals, application/firmware modification, and security research will enable you to analyse and understand the mechanics of the Android ecosystem, delivering industry-leading findings and actionable solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research on Android internals, including system services, APIs, and device drivers.
  • Perform static and dynamic analysis (including Frida scripting) of mobile applications to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and customise AOSP (Android Open Source Project) images for research and testing.
  • Reverse engineer Android firmware, applications, and network protocols to uncover security risks.
  • Research emerging Android technologies, assess their security implications, and design custom proof-of-concept (PoC) solutions.
  • Contribute to network forensics, software reverse engineering, and software reverse engineering (SRE) analyses.
  • Build and patch Android APKs for forensic and security testing.

Daily Tasks (Objective-Driven & Problem-Solving)

  • Craft innovative, non-obvious solutions to complex security challenges.
  • Research from zero to AOSP capability, dissecting network behaviour and mechanisms.
  • Collaborate on projects individually, in teams, or as a technical lead.
  • Evaluate new Android features, functions, and underlying implementation risks.
  • Apply function-specific exploits to custom technology targets for research efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
