About The Role
As an Andrologist at JD Healthcare, you'll play a vital specialist role in our IVF laboratory, taking responsibility for the analysis and preparation of male reproductive samples across a range of fertility treatments. Working within a close-knit multidisciplinary team, you'll apply your expertise in semen analysis, sperm preparation and cryopreservation to directly support patient care — from IUI through to IVF and ICSI cycles. This is a role that demands precision, scientific rigour and a genuine commitment to quality at every stage. What You Will Do
- Perform advanced semen analysis in line with WHO guidelines, assessing concentration, motility, morphology and vitality to the highest standards of accuracy
- Carry out a range of sperm preparation techniques — including density gradient centrifugation, swim-up and Zymot — for IVF, ICSI and IUI procedures
- Process and prepare surgical sperm retrieval samples (PESA, TESA, micro-TESE) in close collaboration with the clinical team
- Perform sperm cryopreservation and thawing, ensuring optimal post-thaw recovery and quality at all times
- Authorise imports of London Sperm Bank and external bank samples, arranging these in line with relevant SOPs and protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation and full sample traceability, ensuring compliance with HFEA regulations and laboratory quality standards
- Undertake routine quality control, equipment maintenance and audit participation, contributing to continuous service improvement
- Communicate results clearly with embryologists and clinicians, actively contributing to treatment planning and patient management discussions
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline
- 2–3 years' experience in andrology or sperm banking
- Strong working knowledge of WHO semen analysis guidelines and HFEA regulatory requirements
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accurate documentation and sample traceability
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary laboratory team
- Flexible approach to working patterns, including weekend rota cover

Desirable
- MSc or equivalent qualification in Reproductive Science or a related field
- Familiarity with i-Match or equivalent sample management systems
- Experience supporting training, quality management or service development initiatives
- Knowledge of emerging trends and advances in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)
