Antenna Architecture Lead

Electronics Engineer (AESA Antenna Architecture) – Leonardo UK

Salary: £60,000 – £84,995

Role Overview Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework. This range reflects the approved grade band for this role, with benchmarking against the external market. Exceptions are managed to maintain internal equity.

Your Impact

Develop the next-generation radar antenna architecture for Leonardo’s Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) systems. Join a global defence electronics leader shaping situational awareness, electronic warfare, and surveillance across land, sea, and air—based in Edinburgh.

What You’ll Bring

Leonardo seeks an experienced Electronics Engineer for a new antenna architecture-design role, focused on:

  • Designing and assessing emerging AESA antenna architectures, including digital signal chain evolution and scalability.
  • Evaluating new technologies to minimise development and recurring costs, prioritising design reuse, commonality, and strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Collaborating across disciplinary teams, internally and with external customers (initial development/V&V phases).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adopt a product design mindset to optimise non-recurring and recurring engineering costs.
  • Support design reviews and align with Radar Systems and LRI/SRI teams, ensuring compatibility and issue resolution.
  • Maintain antenna LRI key performance parameter tracking, documenting requirements, design decisions, and verification/validation evidence (e.g., EMI, RF modelling, control systems).
  • Lead built-in test (BIT) definitions, validation plans, and compliance documentation.
  • Dig into prototyping and "fail fast, learn fast" development methodologies.
  • Coordinate with senior engineers and the AESA CDT Chief Engineer on technical and documentation needs.
  • People development focus: Coaching new engineers and supporting the Systems Team Lead in delivering the overall antenna solution.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
