Senior AOCS Engineer
Location: Guildford (Hybrid)
Role Overview
Senior AOCS Engineer responsible for end-to-end spacecraft Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) delivery, working across the full mission lifecycle from design through to launch and in-orbit operations. Acts as AOCS subsystem lead on LEO, GEO, and lunar missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AOCS subsystem design and delivery on spacecraft missions
- Develop spacecraft attitude and orbit control architectures
- Define AOCS modes (e.g. safe mode, pointing modes, acquisition modes)
- Design guidance, control, and estimation algorithms
- Capture and derive AOCS requirements from system-level needs
- Specify and select AOCS sensors and actuators (e.g. star trackers, reaction wheels, magnetorquers)
- Define AOCS software requirements and support implementation
- Perform AOCS verification and validation activities
- Support LEOP, commissioning, and in-orbit operations
- Interface with customers and internal engineering teams
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers

Required Experience
- 5+ years experience in spacecraft AOCS design and analysis
- Strong understanding of spacecraft dynamics, kinematics, and orbital mechanics
- Experience in control systems and estimation techniques (e.g. Kalman filtering)
- Exposure to full spacecraft lifecycle (design → launch → operations)
- Experience acting as technical lead or work package lead

- AOCS / GNC system design

- Spacecraft simulation and modelling
