Overview
Music wouldn't exist without the work of songwriters, composers and publishers. We're here to represent them and make sure that they are paid for their work. After more than a century in the industry, we continue to innovate as a world-leading organisation.
The Role
We are looking for an individual on a 6-month fixed-term contract to lead Accounts Payable activity, deliver an effective handover from the incumbent manager, and ensure clear desk procedures are documented and embedded across the team. The role will capture key knowledge, clarify responsibilities and deadlines, and support continuity of service during the transition.
Responsibilities
As our AP Manager some of your day-to-day duties will include:
- Provide day-to-day leadership for Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate, timely processing and a strong customer/service culture.
- Plan and execute a structured handover from the incumbent manager, capturing key knowledge, contacts, recurring deadlines, open issues and areas requiring ongoing management attention.
- Create and maintain clear desk procedures for core Accounts Payable activities, including supplier set-up, invoice processing, approval workflows, payment runs, query management, reconciliations and month-end routines.
- Document ownership, hand-offs, approval requirements, escalation routes, key controls and critical cut-off dates so that responsibilities are clear across the team.
- Ensure Accounts Payable procedures are practical, easy to follow, consistently formatted and accessible to team members and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the team in adopting the documented procedures, providing coaching and guidance where needed to embed consistent ways of working.
- Maintain continuity of Accounts Payable service during the transition, ensuring payment deadlines, supplier queries, reconciliations and month-end activities remain on track.
- Engage with stakeholders including Finance, Procurement, budget holders, system owners, suppliers and service providers to clarify processes, resolve queries and ensure the procedures reflect current practice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
